Conflict of Interest

Jurnal Venus
Conflict of Interest Policy
Policy on the disclosure, management, and prevention of financial, personal, professional, institutional, and editorial conflicts of interest.

Policy Statement
Jurnal Venus is committed to maintaining transparency, impartiality, independence, and integrity throughout the research, peer-review, editorial, and publication processes. Authors, editors, reviewers, and other individuals involved in publication are expected to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest that could reasonably be considered to influence their judgment, interpretation, recommendations, or decisions.
The existence of a conflict of interest does not automatically prevent publication or participation in the editorial process. However, relevant conflicts must be disclosed and appropriately managed to protect the integrity and credibility of the scholarly record.
01
Definition of Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest exists when financial, personal, professional, academic, institutional, or other relationships could reasonably be perceived to influence the conduct, interpretation, assessment, review, or publication of scholarly work.
Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:
  • employment or professional appointments;
  • consultancies or advisory roles;
  • research grants, sponsorships, or other sources of funding;
  • ownership of stocks, shares, patents, or other financial interests;
  • paid expert testimony or professional services;
  • close personal, family, or professional relationships;
  • recent or ongoing research collaboration;
  • direct institutional relationships;
  • academic competition or personal disputes; and
  • other relationships or circumstances that may affect impartial judgment.
02
Conflict of Interest for Authors
All authors must disclose any financial, personal, professional, institutional, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived to influence the conduct, interpretation, presentation, or conclusions of their work.
This includes, where applicable, employment, consultancies, advisory roles, grants, sponsorships, research funding, financial interests, patents, professional relationships, or other circumstances relevant to the submitted work.
Authors must provide a Conflict of Interest declaration in the manuscript before the References section. Where no conflict exists, authors should state: "The authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest."
03
Funding and Financial Support
Authors must identify all sources of financial support related to the research and publication of the manuscript. Funding information should include the name of the funding organization and, where applicable, the grant or project number.
Authors should also explain the role of the funder, where relevant, in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, or the decision to submit the work for publication.
Where no external funding was received, authors may state: "This research received no external funding."
04
Conflict of Interest for Editors
Editors must declare any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest related to a manuscript. An editor must not participate in the assessment, reviewer selection, peer-review supervision, editorial recommendation, or final decision for a manuscript where a relevant conflict exists.
Relevant conflicts may include:
  • recent or ongoing collaboration with one or more authors;
  • close personal, professional, or supervisory relationships;
  • direct financial interests connected with the manuscript;
  • significant institutional relationships that may compromise impartiality;
  • personal disputes, academic competition, or other circumstances affecting neutrality.
When an editor has a conflict of interest, the manuscript must be reassigned to another qualified and unconflicted editor.
05
Conflict of Interest for Reviewers
Reviewers must disclose any conflict of interest that could affect, or reasonably appear to affect, their ability to provide an independent and objective assessment of a manuscript.
Reviewers should decline or withdraw from a review when they have a close personal, professional, academic, financial, collaborative, or institutional relationship with the authors that may compromise impartiality.
If a reviewer becomes aware of a relevant conflict after accepting the review assignment, the reviewer should promptly inform the editorial team and discontinue the review where appropriate.
06
Manuscripts Submitted by Editors or Editorial Board Members
Manuscripts submitted by editors, editorial board members, reviewers, or other individuals involved in the management of Jurnal Venus are not automatically excluded from consideration solely because of their role in the journal.
However, such manuscripts must be handled independently. The author concerned must have no involvement in reviewer selection, peer-review management, editorial assessment, or the final publication decision.
Manuscripts authored or co-authored by members of the editorial team will be assigned to another qualified and unconflicted editor and will undergo the same editorial screening and peer-review standards applied to all other submissions.
07
Disclosure and Management
Disclosed conflicts of interest will be evaluated according to their nature, significance, and potential effect on the integrity of the editorial or scholarly process.
Depending on the circumstances, Jurnal Venus may disclose the conflict in the published article, reassign editorial responsibility, appoint different reviewers, request additional information, or take other reasonable measures to maintain transparency and impartiality.
Disclosure of a conflict does not automatically indicate misconduct. The purpose of disclosure is to allow relevant interests and relationships to be transparently identified and appropriately managed.
08
Undisclosed Conflicts of Interest
If a significant undisclosed conflict of interest is identified during the editorial process, Jurnal Venus may request clarification, suspend editorial processing, reassign the manuscript, appoint new reviewers, or take other appropriate measures.
If an undisclosed conflict is discovered after publication and is considered relevant to the interpretation, credibility, or integrity of the article, the journal may publish a correction, editorial notice, expression of concern, or take another action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics and post-publication policies.
