Authorship & Contributorship
Policy on authorship eligibility, contributor recognition, author responsibilities, contribution statements, authorship changes, and authorship disputes.

Policy Statement
Jurnal Venus is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects substantial intellectual contributions to scholarly work and that all individuals who have contributed to a manuscript receive appropriate recognition. Authorship also carries responsibility and accountability for the accuracy, integrity, originality, and ethical conduct of the published work.
The journal follows principles of transparency in authorship and contributorship and refers, where appropriate, to guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) , the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) , and the CRediT Contributor Role Taxonomy .
01
Authorship Criteria
Individuals listed as authors should have made substantial intellectual contributions to the work and must be able to take responsibility for the published article. Jurnal Venus applies the following authorship criteria:
  1. Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data or evidence;
  2. Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content;
  3. Approve the final version of the manuscript to be published; and
  4. Agree to be accountable for the work and cooperate in resolving questions relating to the accuracy, integrity, or ethical aspects of the article.
All individuals listed as authors should meet the authorship criteria. Individuals who contribute to the work but do not qualify for authorship should be recognized appropriately in the Acknowledgments or contributor statement.
02
Responsibilities of Authors
All authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript is accurate, original, ethically prepared, and consistent with the publication policies of Jurnal Venus.
Authors are expected to:
  • review and approve the manuscript before submission;
  • ensure that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria;
  • ensure that legitimate contributors are not improperly excluded;
  • provide accurate names, affiliations, email addresses, and other required author metadata;
  • disclose relevant conflicts of interest and funding sources;
  • ensure that research data and evidence are accurately reported;
  • cooperate with editorial queries concerning the integrity or accuracy of the work; and
  • inform the journal promptly if a significant error or integrity concern is identified before or after publication.
03
Contributor Roles and CRediT Taxonomy
Jurnal Venus encourages authors to provide a transparent Author Contributions statement describing the specific contribution of each author. Where appropriate, contributions should be described using the CRediT Contributor Role Taxonomy.
CRediT Contributor Roles
Conceptualization Data Curation Formal Analysis Funding Acquisition Investigation Methodology Project Administration Resources Software Supervision Validation Visualization Writing – Original Draft Writing – Review & Editing
One individual may have more than one contributor role, and the same contributor role may be shared by several authors. CRediT describes contributions but does not, by itself, determine who qualifies for authorship.
04
Author Contributions Statement
Manuscripts with multiple authors should include an Author Contributions statement identifying the contribution of each author. The statement should be placed in the declaration section of the manuscript before the References.
Example
Author Contributions: A.A.: Conceptualization, Methodology, Investigation, Writing – Original Draft. B.B.: Data Curation, Formal Analysis, Visualization. C.C.: Supervision, Validation, Writing – Review & Editing. All authors have read and approved the final manuscript.
05
Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is primarily responsible for communication between the author group and Jurnal Venus during submission, peer review, revision, production, and post-publication communication.
The corresponding author should:
  • ensure that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript;
  • confirm the accuracy of author names, affiliations, and metadata;
  • ensure that required declarations and supporting information are complete;
  • communicate editorial decisions and revision requirements to all co-authors;
  • obtain agreement from co-authors concerning substantive revisions;
  • respond promptly to editorial correspondence; and
  • remain available after publication to respond to legitimate questions about the article.
06
Author Order
The order of authors should be determined collectively by the author group according to their disciplinary conventions and actual contributions. Jurnal Venus does not determine author order on behalf of contributors.
All authors are responsible for confirming the author list and author order before submission. The author order recorded in the OJS metadata must correspond with the author order shown in the manuscript and final published article.
07
Non-Author Contributors and Acknowledgments
Individuals who contributed to the research or manuscript but do not meet the journal's authorship criteria should not be listed as authors. Their contributions may instead be recognized in the Acknowledgments section where appropriate.
Contributions such as general administrative assistance, technical assistance, language editing, proofreading, routine data collection, or funding acquisition alone do not automatically qualify an individual for authorship.
Authors should obtain appropriate permission before naming an individual in the Acknowledgments where such acknowledgment may imply that the individual endorses the work.
08
Unacceptable Authorship Practices
Jurnal Venus does not accept authorship practices that misrepresent who contributed to the scholarly work.
Prohibited practices include:
  • Gift or Honorary Authorship: listing an individual as an author primarily because of status, position, authority, or personal relationship rather than a qualifying contribution;
  • Guest Authorship: adding a prominent or influential individual to increase the perceived credibility of a manuscript without a qualifying contribution;
  • Ghost Authorship: failing to identify an individual who made a substantial contribution that should have been disclosed;
  • including an author without that person's knowledge or approval; and
  • intentionally excluding legitimate authors or misrepresenting contributor roles.
09
Changes in Authorship
Requests to add, remove, replace, or reorder authors after manuscript submission must be justified and submitted to the editorial team before publication.
A request should include a clear explanation of the proposed change and confirmation that all affected authors agree with the revised authorship arrangement. The editorial team may request written confirmation from all listed authors and any individual being added or removed.
Authorship changes after publication will be considered only when appropriately justified and may require a formal correction or other post-publication notice. Jurnal Venus will not silently alter the author list of the published version of record.
10
Authorship Disputes
Authors are expected to resolve authorship questions collectively before submitting a manuscript. Jurnal Venus may facilitate communication regarding authorship concerns but is not normally in a position to adjudicate disputes about who made a particular contribution.
Where authors cannot reach agreement, or where an authorship dispute requires investigation beyond the journal's remit, the matter may be referred to the relevant institution, employer, research-integrity office, or another appropriate authority.
Editorial processing may be suspended while a significant authorship dispute is being resolved.
11
Artificial Intelligence and Authorship
Artificial intelligence systems, large language models, chatbots, and other AI-assisted technologies must not be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility or accountability for scholarly work, approve the final manuscript, or respond independently to questions concerning research integrity.
Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, citations, data, analysis, and other content of manuscripts prepared with the assistance of AI technologies. Any relevant use of AI must be disclosed in accordance with the Jurnal Venus AI Usage Policy .
