Wilis https://jurnal.pipmakassar.ac.id/index.php/ard/article/view/884
The auxiliary engine is one of the most important systems in ship operation, which depends on the stability of the lubrication and cooling systems to maintain engine performance. One of the vital components in this system is the L.O Cooler (Lube Oil Cooler), which functions as a heat exchanger to keep the lubricating oil temperature within safe operating limits. This study aims to analyse the causes, impacts, and technical solutions for the temperature increase caused by leaks in the L.O Cooler Tube. The research was conducted on the KM Wilis ship, owned by PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia, using a qualitative descriptive approach. The methods used included direct observation, technical interviews with ship engine personnel, and visual documentation of the L.O Cooler and related cooling systems. Lubricant temperature and oil pressure data were also analysed to support technical interpretation. The results of the study show that leaks in the L.O Cooler Tube cause cooling water to mix into the lubrication system, resulting in a decrease in oil viscosity and disruption to the lubrication function. This condition causes the lubricant temperature to rise beyond the safe threshold and increases the risk of wear on components such as bearings and pistons. The solutions implemented include replacing the Tube, cleaning the cooling lines, and periodically monitoring the temperature through sensors and recording machine operations.
Wahyu Ferdiansyah Copyright (c) 2026 JURNAL KARYA ILMIAH TARUNA ANDROMEDA https://jurnal.pipmakassar.ac.id/index.php/ard/article/view/884 Mon, 13 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0800 Implementation of ISPS Code to Prevent Security Threats of MT. This study uses qualitative research methods with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The subjects in this study were 3 informants. The type of data used is primary data. The results of this study can be concluded that the formal implementation of the ISPS Code has been carried out according to procedures. However, implementation in the field still leaves a number of significant weaknesses. This can be seen from the weak access control, the poor night lighting system, and the lack of security training for all crew members and the security level status is not adjusted to the actual situation. In addition, there are several technical factors such as the unavailability of CCTV in critical areas, unsupportive communication equipment (HT), and uneven security awareness among the crew are the main causes of the incident. Sea Wave, then analyzed descriptively to describe the actual conditions of PPE use, the implementation of safety meetings and drills.

The results of the study show that the optimization of the use of occupational safety tools in SV. Sea Wave has not been achieved to its fullest. It was found that work safety equipment, such as safety glasses, were in unsuitable conditions and inadequate, so the crew did not use them. In addition, the implementation of safety meetings and drills has not been carried out consistently, and the supervision carried out has not touched the overall change in the behavior of the crew. Several steps must be taken to prevent work accidents on board, namely by implementing procedures for the use of work safety equipment, supervision of the use of PPE, evaluating safety meetings and drills regularly, and checking the availability and feasibility of safety equipment.
Alvin Idham Copyright (c) 2026 JURNAL KARYA ILMIAH TARUNA ANDROMEDA https://jurnal.pipmakassar.ac.id/index.php/ard/article/view/869 Mon, 13 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0800
